Ladji Diaby „08/02/23“, 2023, metall, wood, photography, book, wax, unique work, price on request
In his artistic works, Ladji Diaby samples elements from pop, rap, gaming or pedagogical contexts. The constant point of reference is the home environment, as a working and living space. In his sculpture shared as an edition, in which the attempt to write world history is overlaid by an image of Rohff, a rap icon of the early 2000s, there is an ironic problematization of a still Western-influenced art canon, but also the question of whether this remains relevant for a young, international generation of artists.
Ladji Diaby (b. 2000 in Saint-Denis, FR) is an artist who has participated in group exhibitions at Crèvecœur, Paris; Forde, Geneva; FRAC Corsica, Corsica; the Braunsfelder Collection, Cologne; and the Centre Pompidou, Paris.
