In her site-specific works and narratives, Leonie Nagel explores systems of social order and their underlying rules, alongside themes of labor, play, and language. She is actively involved in various self-organized initiatives and co-founded the Berlin project space Cittipunkt e.V. in 2022. In her newly modified work “False Friends,” Nagel engages with the linguistic phenomenon of words that appear similar across languages but carry different meanings. By juxtaposing such word pairs, the work reveals the human need for communication and connection, highlighting fundamental conditions of social interaction.
