Christian Naujoks, “Untitled (A Love Song)”, 2025, Textile print, T-shirt, Dimensions variable, Edition 8 + 2 Artist’s proofs, 60 €
Christian Naujoks operates at the intersection of art, music, and theory as an artist, composer, singer, and mediator. As an annual edition, he designed T-shirts featuring a graphic that draws on the notation systems of the American composer Pauline Oliveros and invites reflection on one’s own listening experiences. Building on Oliveros’ concept of deep listening—a mode of attentive listening as both artistic and political practice—Naujoks’ work explores the potentials inherent in bodies that are always already fractured, drawing particular attention to experiences of auditory impairment. The T-shirts serve as a mobile, performative extension of the exhibition, engaging with the familiar format of musician merchandise in the concert context.
Born in 1980 in Lübeck, Germany, Christian Naujoks is a composer, musician, and artist. His exhibitions and performances have been presented at Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach; Kunstverein Braunschweig; Galerie Max Mayer, Düsseldorf; KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin; Sonic Somatic, Florence; and the Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg. His work formed the foundation for the exhibition “Untitled (A Love Song)” at Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft.
