Valentina Karga is a Berlin-based artist and Professor of Relational Design at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. Her practice centers on collective modes of working grounded in participation, dialogue, and shared knowledge production, often in close collaboration with diverse communities. Her projects foster processes of commoning and explore experimental, often DIY approaches to rethinking infrastructures and institutions. She approaches art as a form of simulation in which social and ecological futures are collectively rehearsed.

Karga’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at the National Museum of Contemporary Art Greece, transmediale, the Athens Biennale, Kiasma Museum, the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, and the Kunstmuseum Bochum.

In collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg and Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft, the 2026 edition of Flock focuses on socially engaged, community-based artistic practices. Drawing on discourses around commons and care, it presents positions that foster encounters and address questions of participation, publics, and responsibility.

Flock VII with Valentina Karga includes a presentation at Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft as well as studio visits at the Academy of Fine Arts, Nuremberg. Interested students can register by email with Anna-Lena Rößner: roessner@adbk-nuernberg.de.
