Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft

Two-day workshop with Christian Naujoks, 23 and 24 April 2025, 14:00 – 18:00

As part of the exhibition Untitled (A Love Song), Christian Naujoks is holding a two-day workshop for people with and without hearing impairments. 

The group will focus on experiences with hearing loss, acoustic hallucinations, phantom noise (also known as tinnitus) and other sensory syndromes (hyperacusis, misophonia, etc.). During the workshop we will consider impairment as a “form of openness to the world” and as a “foundation for connecting to others” (Jonathan Sterne) by improvising along untested gestures of exchange.

At the beginning of the workshop, participants are invited to bring a sonic memory with them. This could be an everyday object associated with an acoustic stimulus, but also notations of dreamed sound or sonic experiences beyond audibility.
