Nele Kaczmarek wird neue Direktorin des Kunstverein Nürnberg – ADG / Kunstverein Nürnberg – ADG appoints Nele Kaczmarek as the new director of the institution

The Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft is delighted to announce Nele Kaczmarek as its new director. Kaczmarek will succeed Wolfgang Brauneis on May 01, 2024. With the appointment of Nele Kaczmarek, the Kunstverein Nürnberg has gained an experienced curator and mediator.
From 2016 to 2022, Nele Kaczmarek worked as a curator at the Kunstverein Braunschweig, where she organized solo and group exhibitions featuring international artists such as K.R.M. Mooney, Steve Bishop, Carolyn Lazard, Patricia L. Boyd and the Karrabing Film Collective. Alongside this, she taught at Braunschweig University of Art, (co-) curated projects at institutions including the Kunstverein Dresden, SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin, and Braunsfelder in Cologne, and also advised Tangente in St. Pölten/Vienna.
After a curatorial fellowship in Seoul, South Korea, Nele Kaczmarek has been working as the interim director of the IMAI—Inter Media Art Institute, Düsseldorf since 2023, where she has collaborated with numerous other institutions such as the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and Videonale Bonn to initiate exhibitions and projects with artists including Becket MWN, Leyla Yenirce, Constance DeJong, and Dani and Sheilah ReStack. Building on the exhibition history of the Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft, Nele Kaczmarek plans to open up the institution’s program to the interests and ideas of local groups and initiatives and to work closely with international artists to establish new spaces and rhythms for exhibiting, discussing and relaxing.
