Maximiliane Baumgartner, „Das Lokale ist nicht lokal“, 2024, colored pencil on paper, 21 x 29.7 cm, framed, 3 unique works, € 600 (€ 1,200 for the set)
Maximiliane Baumgartner’s works combine elements of painting, critical pedagogy and artistic research. With her distinctive method of “looking at pictures through pictures,” the artist connects past and present and points out gaps in the reception of works without overwriting them. In her three-part series of drawings Das Lokale ist nicht lokal (The Local Is Not Local, 2024), she continues to examine the oeuvre of Nuremberg artist Dore Meyer-Vax (1908–1980), recontextualizing her works Die Wartenden (The Waiting Ones, 1949) and Die stumme Katrin rettet die Stadt (Mute Katrin Saves the City, 1964).
Maximiliane Baumgartner (b. 1986 in Lindenberg, DE) is an artist, educator, and a visiting professor. Her works and performance spaces have recently been exhibited at the Neuer Essener Kunstverein, the Stadtgalerie Bern, the Kunstverein München, and Galerie Max Mayer in Düsseldorf.
