Isabelle Enders, “office”, 2025, Office-chair elements, steel (chrome-plated and painted), 75 × 125 cm, Unique, 1.200 €
The boundary between design and art is often defined by function, with design objects generally seen as purpose-driven. Isabelle Enders explores this boundary in her work by deliberately emphasizing assumed utility, creating new formal solutions in the process. For her annual edition “office”, commissioned by Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft, she brings together a range of (social) moments and realities from the (Kunstverein’s) yearly program. Elements of a classic office interior, which had already shaped her first “Bar” at the Kunstverein, are combined with the silhouette of a candlestick, suggesting a festive winter atmosphere.
Isabelle Enders (*1979, Miltenberg, Germany) is a silversmith and artist. Her recent exhibitions include the Kunsthalle Nürnberg and the Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft, where she also initiated the “Bar” program series. Her works are included in the collections of the Grassi Museum Leipzig and the Neue Sammlung in Munich.
