Patricia L. Boyd, Untitled I-VI, 2024, photogravure and monoprint on paper, sheep wool, 33 x 43 cm, 30 x 40 cm, 32 x 43 cm, 32 x 40 cm, 34 x 47 cm, 34 x 41 cm, 6 unique works, each € 1,900
Patricia L. Boyd’s six-part series of unique photogravure prints depict power stations and cooling towers alongside eggs and poultry placed on a lap. The prints were made by smearing carbon black and other coloured inks onto etched metal plates. The works on paper are mounted on panels made of hand-felted sheep’s wool from various breeds native to the UK. The feeling of physical closeness and warmth is juxtaposed with industrial production, suggesting a cycle of creation, reproduction, damage and loss—“a fleeting arrangement like seeing forms in the plumes of soot from smokestacks.”
