Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft

As part of the Jahresausstellung 2025 at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg, the ongoing pedagogical project The Interlocutory Agency presents a weekend screening. The class has been on an art residency at Syowia’s studio and home in Ongata Rongai, Nairobi, Kenya from June 20th to July 20th. The screening contributions, created during this semester, consist of various digital media and embody the concept of Bila Taratibu Maalumu. These are presented across two locations: the Academy’s Studio 43.2 and the Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft.

The Interlocutory Agency is a polyphonic, multilingual, and dynamic class. Here, the interrupting agent is a vital presence within the artistic process: a space for speaking in-between and practicing covert methods of survival. Coming from different backgrounds, learning, sharing, and making are core processes, with a specific attention to holding space for discomfort. Syowia has been a Visiting Professor at the AdBK Nuremberg since November 2023. Her professorship is supported by the Top Professorship Programme (SPP) of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts.
