Quinn Latimer is a writer whose work often explores feminist economies of writing, reading, and moving-image production. Her reading as part of the collaborative online program “Temperatures” centers around two texts that both use repetition and the refrain as modes to consider the voice as well as gender and class as a complicit actor in the making and performing of language.
Latimer is the current participant of the Writers Residency, a cooperation between Kunstverein München and the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich. Her books include “Like a Woman: Essays, Readings, Poems” (2017), “Sarah Lucas: Describe This Distance” (2013), and “Rumored Animals” (2012). Her writings regularly appear in Artforum, frieze, The Paris Review, and The White Review, and she has recently contributed catalogue texts for numerous artists. She is a lecturer at Art Institute in Basel, where, with Chus Martínez, she organizes a biannual symposia series on questions of gender, language, social justice, and artistic practice. Latimer was editor-in-chief of publications for documenta 14 in Athens and Kasse.
