ab 23. Februar 2021 / from February 23, 2021 onwards

Temperatures is a cooperative year-long program of events including talks, readings, concerts, and performances expanding the digital space within the existing infrastructures of the three institutions.

For the first event on February 23 at 7 pm, the philosopher Samo Tomšič will reflect on the title of this collaboration, exploring its multiple layers and references. His talk will move from temperature as a unit expressing climatic conditions, representing substances in balance, or indicating extremes to it serving as a metaphor for subjective and political emotions and their tipping points.

Samo Tomšič holds a PhD in philosophy from the University of Ljubljana. He is currently a visiting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg and at the University of Ljubljana; he is also a research associate at the Humboldt University in Berlin. His research areas include theoretical psychoanalysis, political philosophy, and critical epistemology. His publications include The Capitalist Unconscious: Marx and Lacan (Verso, 2015) and The Labor of Enjoyment. Toward a Critique of Libidinal Economy (August Verlag, 2019).

The project is funded by Neustart Kultur of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, issued by the Bundesverband Soziokultur e.V.
