Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft is pleased to present, in parallel with the annual exhibition of the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg, an intervention by the class of Prof. Maria Loboda in the foyer of the Milchhof titled “one has to hurry […] everything disappears […]”.

The project is the result of a long-term exchange with the students and takes shape simultaneously in two locations: at Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft and on the campus of the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg.

A collaboratively developed architecture made of translucent polycarbonate panels forms a supportive environment for the students’ works at Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft. The bracket in the exhibition title is both a linguistic device connecting two places and a concrete, form-giving infrastructure: it is the exact spatial translation of the floor plan of a room in Pavilion 23 of the Academy of Fine Arts. While the space there is used as an invisible storage area, it is conversely activated in the Kunstverein as a floor plan, framing the individual works and bringing them into relation with one another. The installed screens organise and shift visibility; they filter perception, produce proximity, distance, and desire, and make the conditions of art production and presentation themselves part of the work.

The architecture functions at once as shell, display, passage, and storage. Within this context, storage, depot, and museum shop are invoked as reference spaces, emphasising those zones in which art is typically stored, administered, distributed, or consumed.

Between the two exhibition sites, movements and transitions emerge: from class to institution, from protected working space to public sphere, from storage to display. “one has to hurry […] everything disappears […]” opens a shared space in which individual works, collective structures, and institutional frameworks interpenetrate. Particular attention is given to the fleeting, the marginal, and the inconspicuous.
